Kokrajhar Law College functions through dedicated committees and cells that drive quality assurance, campus safety, learning resources, practical training, community outreach, and student welfare — the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Anti Ragging Committee, the Internal Complaints Committee, the Library Development Committee, the Moot Court and Seminar Committee, and the Legal Aid Committee, which extends free legal awareness and assistance to the underprivileged communities of the Bodoland Territorial Region.

A three-day workshop on the New Criminal Laws was organized in hybrid mode, with resource persons joining online and teachers and students attending from the college. The inaugural session on 23/08/2024 was graced by Prof. (Dr.) B.L. Ahuja, Vice Chancellor, Bodoland University.
Organized in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Kokrajhar, the day began with a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar followed by the reading of the Preamble to the Constitution of India. An essay writing competition and a debate competition were held among the students, and the winners were awarded cash prizes.
Jointly organized by Kokrajhar Law College, Nowgong Law College, Dr. R.K.B. Law College and Dispur Law College, this online training equipped the faculty and staff of the participating law colleges for NAAC assessment and accreditation.

An online panel discussion organized in collaboration with U.N. Academy, Kokrajhar, on the theme "Share Facts on Drugs", to spread awareness about the impact of drugs and psychotropic substances on human lives. Panel topics included challenges of medical professionals in addiction diagnosis and treatment (Dr. Shruti Sharma, Psychiatrist, R.N.B Civil Hospital), penal provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 (Sri Harish N., Advocate, Bangalore), perpetrators and victims in drug peddling (Sri Prakash Medhi, A.P.S., Addl. Superintendent of Police, Chirang), forms of drug abuse and psychological disorders (Ms. Nivedita Sharma, Clinical Psychologist, MIND India), behavioural impact and risks on youth abusers (Smt. Chappidi Divya Sreedevi, NBM Law College, Vishakhapatnam), and de-addiction and re-integration of victims (Sri Dipankar Baruah, HOPE Foundation, Guwahati).
Observed online on the theme "Commit to Quit" to spread awareness among the student community. The programme opened with remarks by Ms Preeta Brahma, Principal i/c, followed by a speech from Dr. P.K. Aditya, Asst. Professor, on the health hazards of smoking, inputs from the President and General Secretary of KLCSU, a reading of the pledge, and a vote of thanks by Sri Suresh Basumatary, Asst. Professor.
A special lecture on "Rule of Law under the Indian Constitution – Human Rights of Marginalized People in India" delivered by Prof. (Dr.) R.C. Borpatrogohain, Advocate General, Govt. of Assam.
Organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Kokrajhar in collaboration with IQAC, Kokrajhar Law College. Sri Chandranshu Chaturvedy, Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Kokrajhar, and Sri Bidyut Medhi, Secretary, DLSA, Kokrajhar, addressed the students on Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Organized by IQAC, Kokrajhar Law College in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Kokrajhar. Prof. (Dr.) Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Odisha inaugurated the event addressing "Rule of Law, Juvenile Justice and Human Rights in the context of the COVID-19 Pandemic". Prof. (Dr.) Subhram Rajkhowa, HOD, Dept. of Law, Gauhati University, greeted the event as Guest of Honour.
IQAC, Kokrajhar Law College jointly with IQAC, Dr. R.K.B. Law College, Dibrugarh organized this National Workshop, inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) R.C. Borpatrogohain, Advocate General, Govt. of Assam, as Keynote Speaker.
A two-day Special Talk on Research Methodology was held on 8–9 November 2019 by Minakshi Bujarbaruah, M.Phil (TISS), M.A. Sociology (JNU), an independent research consultant experienced in gender equality and rights of marginalized identities.
On 7 November 2019 the office of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kokrajhar conducted a Book Distribution cum Discussion programme: "How to read Bare Acts" by Smt. Shivani Handique, A.J.S., CJM, Kokrajhar; "Importance of reading Judgments" by Sri Bidyut Medhi, A.J.S., Secretary, DLSA, Kokrajhar; and other relevant topics by Smt. Mitali Thakuria, A.J.S., District & Sessions Judge.
1st Meeting of Session 2020–21 — chaired by the Principal i/c, Kokrajhar Law College on 13/11/2020 at 12:00 PM in the college premises. The previous composition of IQAC was dissolved and the new composition formed with effect from 13/11/2020. The members unanimously resolved and adopted the Action Plan for 2020–21.
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited inside and outside the campus of Kokrajhar Law College. The Anti Ragging Committee, constituted as per the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, monitors the campus, sensitises new and senior students at the beginning of every session, and ensures that every incoming student can pursue their studies in a friendly and fear-free environment.
Any incident of ragging may be reported immediately to any faculty member or directly to the office of the Principal; complaints are acted upon promptly and can attract strict disciplinary action as per UGC norms. Students may also use the National Anti-Ragging Helpline 1800-180-5522 (helpline@antiragging.in).
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Kokrajhar Law College works to ensure a safe, secure and dignified environment for every student and staff member on campus. Constituted in line with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015, the committee receives and redresses complaints of sexual harassment in a fair, confidential and time-bound manner.
The committee also conducts awareness and sensitisation activities among students to promote gender equality, mutual respect and zero tolerance towards harassment in any form. Complaints may be submitted in person or in writing to the committee through the office of the Principal.
The Library Development Committee guides the growth and upkeep of the college library — currently holding 3,885 volumes of textbooks and references, 606 titles of journals and law reports including Supreme Court Cases and Bodoland Law Reports, four daily newspapers, and the Manupatra e-journal subscription for online judgments and legal resources.
The committee recommends acquisition of new textbooks, bare acts, journals and e-resources every session based on the Bodoland University curriculum and feedback from students and faculty, and oversees the library's reading-room facilities at the new Khargaon campus.
The Moot Court and Seminar Committee organizes intra-college moot court exercises and competitions in the college's dedicated Moot Court Hall, training students in advocacy, courtroom procedure, drafting and legal argumentation. Moot Court Exercise and Internship is also a compulsory practical paper of the LL.B 6th Semester under Bodoland University.
The committee likewise plans the college's seminars, workshops and special lectures through the academic year — often in collaboration with the IQAC, the District Legal Services Authority and partner law colleges — giving students regular exposure to judges, senior advocates and academicians.
The Legal Aid Cell of Kokrajhar Law College works to make free legal aid under Article 39A of the Constitution of India a reality for the people of the region. In collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), student unions, and local organisations, the Cell organizes legal awareness camps, literacy programmes, and health camps in remote villages — guided by the motto "Be Aware, take information, and think you are not alone."
Kokrajhar Law College, in collaboration with the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Kokrajhar, conducted a Legal Awareness Camp cum Health Camp at Mainaguri M.E. School, Gongia, Kachugaon on the occasion of National Legal Services Day, observed every year on 9 November.
The programme began with a briefing on the importance of legal awareness by the Legal Cell Secretary, KLCSU, followed by felicitation of teachers and medical staff. A medical team from the Primary Health Centre, Kachugaon — Dr. Himangshu Rabha (Medical Officer), Dr. Jashmine Ahmed (Community Health Officer), Sosi Gohain (Block Community Mobiliser), Birbaina Basumatary (ANM) and Fwthaithao Kr. Basumatary (Dispensary) — conducted free general health check-ups for the local people.
Mr. Suresh Basumatary, Asst. Professor, briefed the public on the legal aid programme and free health check-ups as part of the constitutional mandate. Student groups then presented on burning social issues: Domestic Violence, the Motor Vehicles Act, Child Marriage in Assam, Environmental Law, the Forest Rights Act, 2006, Drug Abuse, and the NALSA Scheme 2025. Around 98 people attended the camp, of whom about 38 underwent the general health check-up.
The Legal Aid Cell, in collaboration with IQAC, Salbari College, Baksa, organized an awareness camp at the auditorium hall of Salbari College, presided over by Mr. Suresh Basumatary, Asst. Professor, Kokrajhar Law College, in the presence of Dr. Jagat Ch. Basumatary, Principal, Salbari College, and teachers of both colleges. 142 students from both colleges took part.
Mr. Laskar Basumatary opened the programme by briefing on the importance of free legal services to the needy. Students of Kokrajhar Law College then presented on the Victim Compensation Scheme, new offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the interconnection between the Mediation Act, 2023 and Lok Adalat, the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, drug abuse, domestic violence, and good industry vs. bad industry.
Kokrajhar Law College, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Kokrajhar and All Bodo Students' Union, Bhowraguri Unit, Gossaigaon, organized a legal awareness programme at Bhowraguri Community Hall. Local villagers participated in large numbers to witness student presentations on: the Victim Compensation Scheme by NALSA and the State Legal Services Authority; the Consumer Protection Act, 2019; Motor Vehicle Law and Road Safety; Cyber Fraud; and Drug Abuse and provisions of the NDPS Act.
On the theme "Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All", Kokrajhar Law College jointly with DLSA, Kokrajhar, the National Programme for Control of Blindness, Kokrajhar District, and ABSU Unit, Raimona organized a Free Medical Camp at the Community Hall, Raimona, ensuring access to health care in a remote part of Kokrajhar District.
Kokrajhar District Health Services assigned Dr. J.K. Kalita (Eye Specialist) and Dr. (Mrs.) Sumitra Kumari Shaw (General Physician) from Kokrajhar Civil Hospital and Raimona Primary Health Centre. Free spectacles, eye drops and medicines were provided; patients above 40 with cataract were advised free surgery at Kokrajhar Civil Hospital, and KLC provided free spectacle frames for younger patients and multivitamin tablets as advised. LL.B 3rd Year students assisted the visitors. More than 100 persons visited the camp — about 94 underwent eye check-ups and about 55 general health check-ups.
A legal awareness camp was organized by the Legal Aid Cell in collaboration with Thuribari Unit Committee, ABSU at village Daoraibari, under Panbari Police Station, Chirang District, B.T.R., Assam. Mr. Suresh Basumatary, Principal i/c, delivered the inaugural speech expressing the motto of the year's Legal Literacy Camp — "Be Aware, take information, and should think you are not alone."
The public were briefed on free legal aid under Article 39A of the Constitution and how victims can approach the District Legal Services Authority for free legal assistance, including Victim Compensation Schemes for acid attack, rape, human trafficking and other injuries. Students of different semesters presented, through chart papers and short skits, on the POCSO Act, child marriage, domestic violence, suicide, drug abuse and women's education, and the statutory remedies available. The local public responded well and gathered in large numbers.
Teachers and students of Kokrajhar Law College, in collaboration with Kokrajhar District ABSU and Jharbari Anchalik Committee ABSU, visited village Soralpara, Kokrajhar to spread awareness on basic legal and human rights. Sri Kwrwmdao Wary, Asst. Professor, delivered the inaugural speech on local issues — allotment of land pattas, drinking water, electricity, education, health and communication. The presidential speech was given by Mr. Parsuram Basumatary, President, Jharbari Anchalik Committee ABSU.
Students presented on various human rights issues with placards and posters, and local people spoke about their problems, with students interacting and suggesting solutions. Duhita Swargiary, Asst. Professor, spoke on human rights issues such as exploitation, custodial torture, human trafficking and rape. The vote of thanks was offered by Bimala Basumatary, President, KLCSU.
Kokrajhar Law College organized a Legal Aid Camp in collaboration with DLSA, Kokrajhar and Nayek Gaon Anchalik Committee, ABSU at village Dabwrgaon, under Kokrajhar Police Station. Suresh Basumatary, Principal i/c, explained the aims and motto of the Legal Literacy Camp. Mr. Boloram Kshetri, Secretary, DLSA, Kokrajhar spoke on the victim compensation schemes of DLSA and NALSA, and Dr. P.K. Aditya, Asst. Professor, emphasised the various legal and statutory rights assisted under DLSA.
1st Year students presented on the POCSO Act and child marriage; 2nd Year students on domestic violence; and 3rd Year students on the law of maintenance.
