Admission Procedure

3 Years LL.B. Admission Guidelines

Per the Bar Council of India Legal Education Rules 2011 [No. 5(a)], candidates holding any undergraduate degree from a recognized university may apply. Applications are processed through the Principal's office following public notifications, and selected candidates are announced on the notice board and website.

Eligibility Criteria

A three-year bachelor's degree in any discipline (BA, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc.) with minimum marks:

General 45%
OBC 42%
SC / ST 40%

Age Limits

  • General Category: Maximum 30 years (as of 1st June of admission year)
  • SC / ST / OBC: Maximum 35 years

Additional relaxations are governed by the Bar Council of India, UGC, and Gauhati University regulations.

Selection Procedure

Admission is strictly merit-based. An admission test or interview may be conducted depending on the number of applicants. Dates and selection lists are announced via the notice board and website.

Academic Regulations

  1. Students cannot pursue concurrent full-time courses during LL.B enrollment.
  2. Absence from classes for one month at a stretch from the date of admission results in the name being struck off the register rolls.
  3. Class capacity: 120 (1st Semester), two sections of 60. Medium of instruction: English.
  4. Candidates missing their first scheduled examination must pass within the next two consecutive attempts.
  5. The LL.B degree must be cleared within five years of the first semester exam, with no more than three chances per semester paper.
  6. Each paper: 100 marks = 80 (theory) + 20 (internal assessment).
  7. Pass marks: 9/20 internal; 36/80 end-semester theory.
  8. End-semester exam duration: three hours per paper.
